On Thursday, we talked a lot about Liberal Fascism. Apparently, it wasn't a moment too soon.
"[W]e are going to grow our foreign service, open consulates that have been shuttered and double the size of the Peace Corps by 2011 to renew our diplomacy," said Obama. "We cannot to continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we have set. We have got to have a civilian national security force that is just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded." (link)LOL WUT? Obama's going to create a civilian national security force as strong as the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines — combined? With the same budget? And hardware, apparently? Holy %^&*!
This inconceivably vast proposal is hardly being mentioned by the MSM; just a throwaway line in last week's speech about volunteerism. But what will this "civilian national security force" do? Obama didn't say. Where will they get their funding? Didn't say. Wouldn't this force be at least extra-constitutional, if not unconstitutional? Who would control them? Would service be mandatory like his other youth "volunteer" initiatives? ::shrug::
At this same speech, he promised to withhold funds from school districts that don't make their junior high and high schoolers serve 50 hours a year. 100 hours for college students, provided their type of service is deemed acceptable by a sprawling new Federal bureaucracy.
Oh, and Obama's going to double the size of the Peace Corps while quadrupling AmeriCorps. I'm curious if anyone will be left to fill all the newly vacated private sector jobs. St. Barack concluded his speech with this gem: "Loving your country must mean accepting your responsibility to do your part to change it."
But what if I love my country the way it is?
Throwing more kerosene on the mob's torches, Obama is moving his nomination acceptance speech to Denver's 75,000-seat outdoor stadium. And is thinking about a speech at Berlin's Brandenburg Gate. Odd that he didn't choose Nuremberg.

Oh, I wouldn't mind seeing some soft power that worked. The State Department often seems to think it's constituency is the rest of the world.
I've nothing against the Peace Corps. In fact, look at what it brought us- mu.nu and mee.nu. Though, as far as I can tell, that's about it. Maybe some goodwill, but how can you tell.
The fact of the matter is, most of the things that he wants this new force to do is being done by the military today. Why, because they stepped up to the plate.

& the money to pay for this will be coming from...where? Clinton used our tax dollars to pay down the debt of his predecessor. Good move. Any incoming president will need to do the same - not something even more hare-brained!!!

Could Americans Control Direction of “Civilian National Security Force” under Obama?
No one has yet qualified what Obama meant when he stated in July 2008: "We cannot continue to rely on our military to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded.”
Brief Historical note: Germany under Hitler during hard economic times set up a volunteer neighborhood/community "Civilian National Security Forces" to protect the Homeland. Once established, the civilian force became a “neighbor” Political Enforcement Arm of the Nazi Government. And was subsequently run by the Gestapo.
Could Americans control the direction a civilian national security force might take under Obama? How would local police interact with a "civilian national security force” that is just as powerful as the U.S. Military? Would volunteer civilians have access to Citizens' private records? Could U.S. private mercenary companies now contracted in Iraq work with a "Civilian National Security Force" on U.S. Soil?
Could Constitutional Fourth Amendment rights be trashed including illegal search and seizure. Could Obama's "Civilian National Security Force" members handle neighborhood informants and share like the Gestopal did in seized and forfeited assets from Americans.
