America loves optimism. And that means that America LOVES Harry Reid!

Sure the approval rating of Congress is somewhere between "puppy molesters" and "sucking chest wounds," but how can the nation not be ga-ga over the can-do, glass-is-half-full enthusiasm of the Senate Majority Leader?

He kicked off the new Iraq surge by saying, "this war is lost." Then, when the Petraeus strategy began to show great success, Reid stated, "the surge hasn't accomplished its goals." I'm sure all of our troops were thrilled with his support.

But now Sen. Reid isn't satisfied with securing defeat in Iraq, but here at home as well: “The American people are losing," said Reid, adding "Al Qaeda has regrouped."

All of America might as well throw in the towel, put on the burka and bow to Mecca. Thanks, Mr. Sunshine, and happy holidays!
